Profile of Hisanori Mae
Hisanori Mae was born in Fukui Prefecture (northwestern) Japan in 1952 and has spent a lifetime developing a unique expression of his life experience through a creative blend of traditional Japanese art techniques and Western mediums. Hisanori attributes the motivation of his work to his passion to express the chaos of life and his journey to grasp the meaning of life on canvas. By fusing oil techniques with traditional Japanese foils and papers, his philosophy of faithfulness and meaning comes to life on canvas with a sensibility that speaks to the heart in a way that transcends yet touches on the Japanese Philosophy of "Wabi (the beauty that is found in poverty and simplicity), Sabi (antique sensibility)".
Hisanori, has gone on to win a host of national and international awards and his work continues to be shown exclusively at a host of high profile galleries in Japan.
